For 16 years, our Foster Kids Christmas project has enhanced the spirit of our holiday season. This very fulfilling project, made possible by donations and fundraisers by WDT, WD Logistics, and Cabool Lease employees, brings home the true meaning of Christmas to all who participate. Christmas 2019 was another heartwarming and successful group effort. From those who gave donations, to those who spent time searching for just the right items, we succeeded in providing an extra special Christmas for 30 children in our local Foster care program, including 11 families. Whether it is a bicycle, a hamster, or a six-foot-tall teddy bear, our goal is to get all of the kid's something(s) on their wish list. For many of them, it is the first time they have ever gotten a Christmas gift they actually asked for. 

Because there is a shortage of volunteer Foster parents, many children who live in poverty often remain in the care of their parents when they are placed in Foster care. That is why coats, shoes, and warm clothing are a priority for those who need them. We also provide groceries for families who need extra help feeding their kids during the long holiday break from school. 

A unique request this year came from two sisters and their brother who collectively asked for only one item. They REALLY wanted a trampoline, but their dad told them not to get their hopes up. We not only got them a trampoline but with the help of some of his friends, Dad managed to get it assembled without the kids' knowledge. Imagine their delight when they looked outside on Christmas morning. Those kids spent the day literally jumping for joy!

Food and toy drives were also held in El Paso and Stephenville. Food collected in El Paso was donated to The Rescue Mission. Donated toys and gift cards were sent to Foster's Home For Children in Stephenville, which provides homes for approximately 60 children in Foster care.
