Driver of the Year Finalist - Jeremiah Gonzales

Jeremiah Gonzales, a finalist for the 2023 Driver of the Year award, is not just a truck driver; he's a testament to dedication, family, faith, and commitment to safety. His journey in the truck driving industry began in the early 2000s when he stepped into the CIP bay at Western Dairy Transport in Portales, New Mexico. Those early days were characterized by hard work and a steep learning curve, but it was here that Jeremiah discovered his passion for truck driving – a career that he knew he could rely on to support his beloved family.

Determined to embark on this career path that could provide for his family, Jeremiah traveled away from home to complete truck driving school at Amarillo College. After completing the program, he ventured into various sectors of the industry, hauling an array of cargo, from milk and frac tanks to wide loads and water in the oil fields. Eventually, he circled back to the dairy industry, where he finds himself today – transporting milk for WDT in San Antonio, a city he loves and cherishes.

As a father to four amazing children, Jeremiah's journey as a truck driver extends far beyond the open road. Family holds a special place in his heart, and he's made numerous sacrifices to ensure their well-being. From missing his son's football games to his children's school events and holidays, Jeremiah knows that these sacrifices have been worth it. This career has not only provided for his family but has also opened up countless opportunities for them, something he's immensely grateful for.

Safety is a top priority for Jeremiah. He takes a resolute approach to ensure the safety of himself and everyone on the road. This commitment involves staying attentive, minimizing distractions, and conducting thorough inspections of his truck. For Jeremiah, safety isn't just a set of rules; it's a mindset and a personal responsibility. He takes great pride in his impeccable safety record and works tirelessly to maintain it.

Jeremiah takes immense pride in the fact that he gets to transport milk that serves the schools in his community. He is an active member of the San Antonio community, whether it's through delivering milk, volunteering at his church, or supporting the local food bank. His faith has always been a guiding force in his life, and he appreciates working for a company like WDT that shares strong beliefs and values. This alignment adds a deeper sense of purpose to his work, knowing that his professional life harmonizes with his personal convictions.

His journey is a testament to hard work, faith, and a focused commitment to safety. From his early days in the CIP bay in Portales to his current role as a driver for WDT in San Antonio, his story reflects the values that shape his life, personally and professionally. Jeremiah takes tremendous pride in being a part of the WDT family and is incredibly grateful for the opportunities it has provided.

Jeremiah expresses his heartfelt gratitude for this incredible opportunity and recognition. Please join us in congratulating him on being a 2023 Driver of the Year finalist!
